Variety reported today that Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, Carol) could be joining Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in Thor Ragnarok.
While details about the third Thor film are still pretty light, I think Cate Blanchett would be a fantastic addition to the Marvel Universe. Marvel declined to comment, so this is still considered a rumor for now.
Blanchett was absolutely fantastic as Galadriel in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit — she could easily take on the role of an Asgardian warrior.
