REPORT: Spider-Man 2017 Film Gets Official Title

Well, Marvel fans – this is shaping up to be quite the week for news! With Captain America: Civil War close to opening in theaters plus two posters AND a trailer released for Doctor Strange, it’s time to look into 2017’s films.

Marvel has officially confirmed the Spider-Man 2017 film will be called Spider-Man: Homecoming and given us our first look at the logo for the film.

Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman made the announcement a couple hours before the official announcement at CinemaCon, saving the best for last during his presentation. Thanks to our friends at Deadline, Star Tom Holland & Rothman explained Homecoming has a high school ring to it, also – “Peter (Parker) is trying to find his way home.” In addition, Holland introduced some footage at the panel:

Parker enters his home to find Aunt May with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Stark tells Parker that he has applied for a special grant, and that he has been accepted.

Spidey fans – we are well on our way to having a great representation of the wall crawler in the MCU. Isn’t it a great time to be a comic fan?!

Spider-Man: Homecoming will arrive in theaters on July 7th, 2017. Cop Car director Jon Watts will direct from a script by screenwriters John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein. Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei will reprise their roles as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Aunt May respectively from Civil War with Zendaya playing a character named “Michelle.”
