The “kid from Brooklyn” is coming home. To commemorate Captain America’s 75th anniversary, Marvel has commissioned Comicave Studios to design a 13-foot tall bronze Captain America statue that will have a permanent home in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The dedication ceremony is happening August 10th.
Before the statue arrives home to Brooklyn, it will be making a nationwide tour, beginning with an official unveiling at San Diego Comic Con. Fans of the star-spangled Avenger can also bring the statue (in a smaller form) to their homes too! There are 750 12-inch bronze figures and 100 35-inch pewter figures (made-to-order) available–a truly unique piece for any Captain America fan.
Paul Gitter, senior vice president of licensing for Marvel at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media tells USA Today: “We hope that when fans see the statue, they will think back to a favorite comic book, treasured action figure or even be transported back to a special time and place in their lives where Captain America’s values played influence.”
Fans of Captain America need to keep an eye on Marvel’s Twitter and Facebook after San Diego Comic Con to see where Captain America will be traveling next before he reaches Brooklyn.
