Marvel TV Boss Talks Cloak And Dagger, Marvel’s Most Wanted

One of the biggest strengths that Marvel TV brings to the table is how they’re willing to expand their programming to different channels. From Netflix to ABC and even Fox, they deliver a wide variety of programming for people to enjoy.  Their most recent Targets are Fox and Freeform, Fox is looking towards the brand new X-men series and Freeform will be getting Cloak and Dagger, the series about two people with super powers who’s abilities compliment one another.  It is at it’s heart a love story.

According to Heroic Hollywood, the love story aspect is part of the reason why Marvel Television Head Jeph Leob chose the property.  While excitement for the story has been high, many were concerned about the love story aspect.  Leob spoke about it at the Television Critics Association.

“It’s a love story that happens to have characters that have always traditionally been in that age group. It’s not like we took something and made it into a YA. It speaks to a YA audience and is a YA property. Would I do Punisher on Freeform? I don’t think that’s going to connect the same way.”

Probably not.  While there’s no further information to report on Cloak and Dagger at this time, we’ve had some Casting Ideas about the series and we’ll keep you posted.  Meanwhile, Mr. Leob spoke about another cancelled property before anyone got to see it, the popular Marvel’s Most Wanted.

“I never say never, but we designed that show to do a very specific thing. The network decided that that thing was not something that they wanted to do. I love everybody that’s involved with it. It’s an extraordinary piece of writing and execution and performances, but for whatever reason it didn’t work for the network. I can’t comment on what they do.”

Marvel Television’s passion for their projects is certainly inspiring, given their commitment to projects like Most Wanted and Agent Carter.  Hopefully we might see a return to the popular Huntingbird pairing on Agents of SHIELD in the meantime before a potential spin off return, or at least an appearance of the planned characters coming from the show.
