Shooting of Wolverine 3 wraps in New Mexico

Hugh Jackman has given his thanks to the state of New Mexico as the third installment of the Wolverine solo franchise wraps up shooting.  Thanks to Screenrant for sharing Jackman’s tweet with a picture of the star overlooking some beautiful southwestern scenery.

Wolverine 3 is going taking aim at an R rating (breaking the franchise’s habit of a PG-13 rating). The story is rumoured to have a western flavour thanks to the primary New Mexico location.  Jackman has also collaborated with director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) on the story and tone of the film. It would be assumed that Jackman would know his was around the character. He has been taking on the role for the entirety of Wolverine’s cinematic lifetime.

Jackman has stated that this will be the last time he will take on the character, if that is the case he’ll have played Wolverine over a span of 17 years!

Wolverine 3 opens in U.S. theaters on March 3rd, 2017.  20th Century Fox owns the film rights to the X-Men family of Marvel characters and plans several film releases of the next few years. These include X-Men films on October 6th, 2017, March 2nd, 2018, and June 29th, 2018. Other announced films include: Deadpool 2, Gambit, New Mutants and X-Force.
