Micheal Giacchino Announced As Composer For Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming has it’s composer, and it’s a Disney fan favorite.  Micheal Giacchino took to twitter today to announce that he would be giving everyone’s favorite web-head a soundtrack worthy of the ages.

Fans are already familiar with Mr. Giacchino’s work from this weekend’s blockbuster Doctor Strange. The composer provided the trippy ethereal soundtrack that gave the film it’s distinctly unique edge.  While other scores have more of a sweeping almost metallic base, Mr. Giacchino’s use of orchestral pieces and choir gave the Sorcerer Supreme a unique sound to the MCU that fits it’s new direction.  We’re of the mind this makes him a more-then-worthy candidate to create a new sound for Peter Parker’s story.

Mr. Giacchino’s soundtrack to Doctor Strange was beautiful and ethereal and different – unique in the spectrum of Marvel’s cinematic universe.  It’s intriguing to picture what he’ll bring to Spider-Man, a different sort of sound from typical superhero composers like Hugh Jackman and Hans Zimmer.

Mr. Giacchino’s no stranger to Disney compositions. His previous credits include films like Up, Cars 2, Tomorrowland, Zootopia, and Inside Out.  He’s also a major player with Bad Robot productions, having worked on Cloverfield and Star Trek.   Star Wars fans will also be excited as the continued “connected” thread between Disney properties continues – as Spider-Man’s composer can also be heard in December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
