Cloak and Dagger Pilot Lands Director

News about Cloak and Dagger has been thin and far between, but we with the project moving forward to film next month it would appear as if a director has been announced for Shadows, the working title for Freeform’s Cloak and Dagger series. According to Geeks of Color and SeasonZeroCom, the brand new Marvel series has found a director in Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Bythewood’s credits include The Secret Life of Bees, Love and Basketball, Beyond the Lights, and the HBO film Disappearing Acts. She’s won multiple awards including an Independent Spirit Award for best first feature, and a Humanitas prize for work on the film. The Humanitas Prize “Challenges us to use our freedom to grow and develop, confronts us with our individual responsibility, and examines the consequences of our choices.” Perfect for a story line Cloak and Dagger about the difficulties of navigating a complex interracial relationship as well as a story of law and order. Mrs. Bythewood confirmed this on twitter moments after the initial posting.

Check out Cloak and Daggers synopsis below. Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger is directed by Gina PrinceBythewood, produced and created by Joe Pokaski and Jeph Leob. It’s scheduled to air on the Freeform network.
