Deadpool screenwriter Paul Wernick may have confirmed the return of popular figures for the upcoming Deadpool sequel. Dopinder, the taxi driver who always wound up driving Deadpool around the city will apparently be featured in Deadpool 2.
Wernick and fellow screenwriter Reese Rhett recently sat down for an interview with Nerdist. They discussed the overall reception of the first film and plans for the sequel. You can check out the interview below. The news comes around the 13:22 mark.
“The relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me,” said Wernick.
“I loved that relationship and that character, and he will be in the sequel,” Wernick added.
So, it looks like Deadpool may be resorting to the same taxi driver once again as Wade Wilson’s go-to for city travels. This will make for maybe a few comedic pieces, or maybe Diopinder will play a broader part to the film? Well, since this will be a Deadpool film, anything truly is possible.
The two screenwriters also announced in an interview with Collider that Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead will appear in the sequel.
“I think we can say, yeah they’ll be in the sequel,” said Reese.
“Yeah, they’ll make at least one appearance,” Wernick responded.
Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead were fan favorites in Deadpool and their reappearance is good news. Keep an eye on The Marvel Report for further updates on the production of the Deadpool sequel.
Deadpool 2 is currently aimed to release on January 12, 2018 in the U.S.
