Marvel And Comixology Team Up To Bring A New Black Panther Series To Life

Marvel and Comixology have teamed up to continue their Marvel Originals series with a new comic aimed at taking fans of Black Panther back to Wakanda. In addition to The Immortal Iron Fists by Kaare Andrews and Thor Vs Hulk: The Champions of the Universe, Comixology readers and Unlimited subscribers will now have access to Black Panther: Long Live the King, a 6 issue bi-weekly series from Nnedi Okorafor, winner of the World Fantasy, Hugo, and Nebula Awards for science fiction. The series will be illustrated by Andre Araujo, best known for his work on Spidey and Eisner nominated The Wicked+Divine.

The series will be a perfect jumping on point for fans new to the series. Set in the world of Ta-Nehisi Coates Black Panther, the synopsis teases a new enemy for the Wakandan King to face. Check it out below:

As the Black Panther and an Avenger, T’Challa has had to save the world time and again – but those duties pale in comparison to his responsibilities as king of Wakanda. As Wakanda rebuilds in the wake of its revolution, T’Challa finds his people besieged by a massive monster tearing through the country, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake!

This is an incredible opportunity for Marvel fans to sink their teeth into a new Black Panther saga. Dr. Okorafor’s work, Who Fears Death is being adapted for HBO with George R.R. Martin producing. She’s also the third black woman to adapt a Marvel Saga for the comic publisher. Araujo is an Eisner nominated artist known for his work on All-New Inhumans, and Spidey for Mighty Marvel. The series will be available for $2.99 on Comixology to non-unlimited subscribers and available for free to unlimited subscribers beginning December 13th, 2017.

What do you think true believers? Are you intrigued to see where the story is going? Ready to return to Wakanda, or jump in for the first time? Sound off and share your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to check out Black Panther: Long Live the King coming soon to Comixology Unlimited!
