Marvel Female Superhero Team Show In Works At ABC

If you are ready for more Marvel TV action on ABC, then get ready because we could be getting a superhero team show on the Disney owned network in the future. Deadline reports that ABC has given a production commitment to an untitled female superhero team drama.

The project comes from Allan Heinberg who is no stranger to female superheroes as he wrote Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman film starring Gal Gadot as the iconic DC heroine. While no further details were revealed about the series, Deadline stresses that the network is giving Heinberg’s project a major commitment.

The trade does, however, point out that the show would most likely feature lesser-known female superheroes from the Marvel universe. Marvel TV president Jeph Loeb is executive producing the series alongside Heinberg. Heinberg’s TV credits also include Grey’s Anatomy, The O.C., The Catch along with work in both DC and Marvel Comics, which includes a Justice League of America run with Geoff Johns and a run on Young Avengers, respectively.

With Agents of SHIELD set to return for a sixth season in summer 2019, this would mark as the network’s latest attempt to launch another Marvel drama since Inhumans which lasted only for one season. This was most likely the project that ABC president Channing Dungey was teasing at the TCA Summer Press Tour last month.

“In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development. I’m very excited about it.”

What female superhero team do you think this could be? Are you excited for more superhero action on ABC? Sound off in the comments below.
