If the thought of Evangeline Lilly flying around in that Wasp prototype suit at the end of Ant-Man got you excited, here we go! NYCC has barely started and already Marvel is breaking major news, things are changing today in the MCU. Marvel has just announced that the Ant Man movie is getting a sequel! Ant-Man 2: Ant Man and the Wasp will hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
The film will be the first in the MCU that will be named after a heroine. To quote Hope Van Dyne: “It’s about damn time”.
The addition of Ant-Man 2 was followed by two more changes, Captain Marvel has been moved to March 8, 2019 and Black Panther shifting up to February 16, 2018.
But that’s not all – Marvel has also announced three more NEW movies (all untitled) slated for May 1, July 10 and November 6, 2020.
Let the speculation begin!
Ant-Man earned $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally for a global total of $409.8M. It’s the #9 film of the year domestically, and opens in its final international market, China, on October 16.
Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has earned $458.9M domestically and $946M internationally for a global total of $1,404.9M, making it the #2 film of the year domestically and the #6 film of all time globally.
Marvel continues to produce blockbuster movies year after year, and there is no end in sight.
