The merc with the mouth is getting music for his movie. (Try saying that five times fast.) Netherlands born producer and composer Junkie XL, real name Tom Holkenborg, announced via Twitter this weekend that he would be creating the music for Deadpool.
On Monday I will start on @deadpoolmovie !!!! So excited!!! pic.twitter.com/BvztrZxiFG

Holkenborg has already had a pretty spectacular year. He was the man behind the epic, complex, theater shaking score of Mad Max: Fury Road as well as Black Mass and Run All Night. Oh and if those credentials weren’t enough to get you excited he’s also working on another superhero film coming out in 2016 called Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Alongside Hans Zimmer.
The trailer for Deadpool already has some pretty great music. It uses “X Gon Give It To Ya” by DMX and “Shoop” by Salt n Pepper during the more action filled sequences with some pretty hilarious results. It would be nice to see some of these playful musical moments so fitting of the character used throughout the film as well.
With his experience in different genres and an unconventional superhero to work with, Junkie XL, could have a lot of freedom to create a really unique -and fun- music experience.
Now the question that remains: Is Deadpool a hard rock guy like Iron Man? Or an old school motown guy like Captain America?

Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller. It opens on February 16th, 2016 starring Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, Brianna Hildebrand, and Andre Tricoteux.
