The expectations for Daredevil season one were modest: a low-budget show with a mostly little-known cast attempting to resurrect a b-list superhero whose own film franchise went belly-up back in 2003.
But the Netflix series blew expectations through the roof, crafting a gripping crime drama packed in a world far removed from the MCU’s slick and glisten. Daredevil exists in a world where the good guys don’t aways make the right decisions. They don’t even always win. And the bad guys will stop at nothing.
So, expectations for season two are significantly higher, and so far, it looks like Marvel’s taking the burden seriously. The season is being referred to as Daredevil VS Punisher and in a serious casting coup, Marvel netted The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthall to play Frank Castle, one of Marvel’s most ruthless antiheroes. They also cast Élodie Yung to play Elektra, the most pivotal woman in Daredevil’s long, luckless little black book.
Those actors joined season one stars Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elsen Henson (Foggy Nelson) at New York Comic-Con to talk the second season, the warring perspectives between Daredevil and the Punisher, snap a few selfies and post a clip of the new cast members getting ready to make Daredevil’s life complicated.

Now that it’s over, here’s what we learned from the Daredevil panel at NYCC:
- Footage of season two was shown during the panel giving the audience their first look at the Punisher and Elektra in action.
- Élodie Yung (Elektra) is a practitioner of martial arts and a black belt in karate.
- Jon Bernthal has wanted to play the Punisher for a while and is nervous but excited to take on the role.
- Daredevil season two will feature more Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah-Ann Woll).
- Footage shown at the panel included Rosario Dawson’s fan favorite Claire Temple.
No word yet on when Daredevil season two will be available to stream on Netflix, but Marvel & Netflix’s latest show, Marvel’s Jessica Jones will be available to stream on Netflix in its entirety on November 20.
