Superhero fatigue? Yeah. Right. At Daredevil’s Season 2 premiere earlier this week, Marvel’s TV head made it abundantly clear that he and his team are already thinking ahead about what’s next and after that.
Loeb explained his thoughts on the Marvel TV train to ComicBook.com:
“It never stops, we have, in one way or the other, there’s nine or ten shows that are going. They’re going on in my brain. The idea is, much like when I was doing television and writing comics at the same time, it’s about telling stories, and making sure we are telling the best stories that we can.”
NINE OR TEN SHOWS? That’s impressive. So let’s break this down: There’s five with Netflix; Daredevil S2, Jessica Jones S2, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Then there’s the ABC series; Agents of SHIELD, Marvel’s Most Wanted, Damage Control, and the still untitled series from American Crime creator John Ridley. That’s nine, not counting the rumored S3 renewal of Agent Carter and the Punisher spinoff.
Just staring at this list makes this writer exhausted. Luckily Loeb has a great team around him to ensure everything comes to fruition:
“I’m not there alone, I’ve got people like Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, and Alan Fine at Marvel, incredible showrunners, incredible writers, Jim Chory, who’s my head of production and can make all of these things happen, it’s having a team around you to be able to do exactly what you’re saying, which is not just live here, but live ten months in the future and know what we’re doing not just now but a year from now.”
It’s a great time to be a comic fan, Marvel peeps. As always, stay tuned to The Marvel Report for more!
