Captain America: Civil War directors Joe & Anthony Russo might be into heavy promotion for the film’s May 6, 2016 release date, but that isn’t stopping them from talking about taking the reins of Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2. While at a press event for Civil War, the Russo Brothers discussed which characters they are looking forward to work with in the two part film with Comicbook.com.
Any Star-Lord fans out there? Anthony Russo had this to say:
“The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited.”
On the other hand, Joe Russo can’t wait to work the Norse God of Thunder into the film, given his knowledge of what will happen in Thor: Ragnarok:
“I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.”
Either way, it’s nice to have a little confirmation of the characters we can expect to re-visit by the time Infinity War rolls into theaters. Given the Russo’s track record with Marvel so far, we cannot wait to see what they have cooking.
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 arrives in theaters May 4, 2018 & Part 2 will arrive May 3, 2019. Stay tuned to The Marvel Report for more news!
