REPORT: Avengers: Infinity War Will Be A Standalone Film: Fourth Avengers Film Still Planned

Time for some Avengers updates Marvel fans!

Disney / Marvel has officially announced that Avengers: Infinity War will now be one film instead of the original two part plan that was set during Marvel’s initial Phase 3 announcement way back in October of 2014.

So what does this mean you ask?

We officially have an Avengers 3 (Infinity War) on the table, with it’s release date still being set for May 4, 2018. There will still be a fourth Avengers film which is still slated for May 3rd, 2019.

The kicker is here that the fourth, Untitled Avengers film may have a different storyline from that of the third one. This split and name change was hinted at by the Russo Brothers earlier this year when Captain America: Civil War was released (thanks to EW!).

Overall, there’s no bad news here – this just means that there will be more Avengers to go around come 2018 and 2019. There’s also an interesting rumor going around that the recently announced Captain Marvel, Brie Larson herself will show up in a cameo in Avengers: Infinity War — however, that remains to be confirmed by Marvel themselves, so that’s just speculation for now.

This move is probably for the best as it gives Marvel a chance to differentiate themselves against a crowded Summer and Hollywood landscape.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, “Avengers: Infinity War” hits theaters on May 4, 2018 from a script by Marvel Studios vets Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
