You can’t have Cloak without Dagger. Their complex relationship is an essential part of their story and their almost symbiotic powers rely on one another. Dagger was born Tandy Bowen, a runaway who was neglected by her mother and felt distanced from her new step father. While on the street she met Tyrone “Ty” Johnson who had been planning to steal her purse. When another thief beat him to it, he saved her and the two of them became friends, relying on one another. Later falling under the influence Simon Marshall of the Maggia crime family, hoping to test a new synthetic narcotic on the two of them, Dagger and Cloak escaped together, but not before they were both injected with the drug. It awakened latent abilities in the two of them. Cloak felt compelled to drain the life force from others while Dagger was able to generate daggers of light.
With the recent news of Freeform ordering a Cloak and Dagger show to series, here is a list of five actors each for the roles of Cloak and Dagger. First up, Dagger. Casting Tandy could prove to be a challenge, but when you’re looking for characters who could be bubbly, happy, positive and pleasant as well as strong – we think we’ve got five actresses who could fill the role.
Skyler Day
From a career that spans from indie shorts to Constantine on television and Pretty Little Liars, Skyler certainly looks the part and her characters represent that pleasant with a potential edge that Dagger has in her character.
AnnaSophia Robb
Best known for her role in Bridge to Terabithia, AnnaSophia embodies Dagger’s sense of light and inspiration. She’s already played a character who’s brightened up the life of someone who’s suffered, seeing her put her own spin on Dagger’s abilities would be awesome. Plus she’s worked for Disney before, therefore making the switch to Marvel would be easy.
Demi Lovato
Demi’s got a heck of a singing voice and she’s a wonderful actor. That bright attitude would be just the thing to make Dagger shine. While she might not be a traditional take on Dagger, We’re casting for attitude and it’d bring a fresh new take to television and to the character.
Sara Paxton
Sara Paxton has an impressive movie career playing a variety of unique characters. She’s proven she can play bubbly and sweet (Aquamarine) and serious and severe (The Last House on the Left.) she’d be an interesting addition to the MCU as Dagger.
Alexa Vega
Alexa Vega has had an interesting career, from Spy Kids to Repo! The Genetic Opera. While she has transitioned to more grown up roles, she’s a reasonable contender if she wants it. She’s had experience doing genre work, and with her commitment as a Christian to offering a powerful message of hope and redemption.
On to Cloak!
