This weekend in the legendary Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, Marvel kicked off their portion if the day with appearances from the entire leading cast of their upcoming film, including some surprise Black Panther cast announcements.
Appearances from the cast included director Ryan Coogler, as well as the Wakandan king himself, Chadwick Boseman. Other cast members who made appearances together included Lupita Nyong’o, and Michael B. Jordan. An additional, surprise cast member was announced and brought out onto the stage as well. During the presentation, actress and playwright Danai Gurira was presented as the newest member of the cast.

From fellow Reporter / Writer Clement Bryant:
As a young African-American male watching from the audience, I was so happy to see a primary lead cast of color on stage. I’ve always wanted to work for Marvel in some capacity and seeing that gave me hope for the future.
Although Marvel may have made a couple mis-steps with the casting of Tilda Swinton in Doctor Strange, I am happy to see them embrace a film like this. The message it sends to young children is that anything is possible.
From seeing “#BlackPantherSoLit” trending on Twitter to the response of the character in Civil War, I cannot wait to see Ryan Coogler’s fully realized vision of Wakanda and further casting announcements.
Marvel’s Black Panther will be directed by Ryan Coogler and is scheduled for release on July 6, 2018, and stars Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, and Danai Gurira.
