Netflix is headed to Comic Con for the first time this year alongside Marvel to promote the fall’s highly anticipated Luke Cage. To get fans even more excited, Marvel has released the first poster promoting the series. It is designed by Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada and features Luke’s the outline of Colter’s (very buff) form in Luke’s traditional black and gold colors.
There’s always great pressure with superhero posters,” Quesada told TV Line. “You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic.”
The poster will be available for fans during Comic Con at Marvel’s booth. The panel for the Luke Cage is on Thursday, July 21st at 5:45-6:45 in Ballroom 20, where hopefully we we will get a first look at footage from the new series. The panel will be moderated by Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer Jeph Loeb. The Marvel Report will also be in the press room interviewing the cast so stay tuned for more information about the show!
Luke Cage will be the third installment of the Netflix and Marvel Defenders series alongside Daredevil and Jessica Jones. An Iron Fist show will take place sometime after. Luke Cage stars Colter as well as Mahershala Ali as Cornell Stokes/Cottonmouth, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Detective Scarfe, and Theo Rossi as Alvarez/Shades. All of those actors will appear in the Comic Con panel alongside showrunner and Executive Producer Cheo Hodari Coker.
Luke Cage is the story of an ex-convict with unbreakable skin caused by a science experiment gone wrong. After seeing him last in Hell’s Kitchen, he heads for Harlem to protect his city and himself.
Luke Cage will be released on Netflix on September 30th.
