Director Doug Liman Leaves Channing Tatum’s Gambit Film

Excited for Channing Tatum’s long delayed Gambit film? Well, you may want to temper your excitement according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film has lost another Director, this time its Edge of Tomorrow and Mr. & Mrs. Smith director Doug Liman. Described as a “mutual parting of ways” between both parties, Fox still intends to meet their January 2017 start date as the search is on for a replacement. Josh Zetumer is still on as the film’s screenwriter.

While Liman officially signed on to the project October 2015, several delays in script rewrites have forced Fox to push the film’s production start date again as it was supposed to start earlier this year. With all these delays, Liman went and directed a smaller scale thriller film. Simon Kinberg, Reid Carolin and Tatum remain producers on the film.

There is also the issue of Liman heading to rival studio Warner Brothers and DC Films to tackle the long awaited Justice League Dark movie according to THR. Sounds like quite the development Marvel fans!
