Phase 3 is continuing this November, and according to comicbook.com, it’s asking us to open our minds with the most recent Doctor Strange featurette.
It won’t be easy, especially for someone like Steven Strange who is fundamentally a believer in science. That’s why he’s got Karl Mordo on his side, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. As the featurette illustrated, Mordo is an experienced player in the world that Stephen Strange is about to enter.
“He certainly is the introduction for Doctor Strange in this universe,” said Ejiofor. “Mordo is very close to the ancient one, and between the two of them they begin his training.” Fans of the comics might be shaking their heads with amusement as Mordo traditionally is a super villain depicted as an adversary of Stephen Strange. Perhaps his transformation has something to do with the zealots, the primary antagonists for this film.
If you’ve checked out the prequel comic, you might remember that both Tina Minoru and the new villain called Kaecilus both come into contact with an ancient artifact. Could this artifact have a corrupting influence on those who wield it? Is this part of what makes Tina Minoru consider the pride, and what drives Mordo mad? Either way they seem like very worthy adversaries for The Avengers.
“We’re excited about the villains in this film.” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “We call them the zealots, and they’re people who become seduced by what they see on the other side.”
Could these other dimensions have anything to do with the micro-verse from Ant-Man? Are they other dimensions similar to what happens within the DC comics universe? Or are these other dimensions that point to the doors between life and death itself?
Check out the featurette below and tell us just what you think true believers. Are you ready to open your mind?
