Ever since the last frame of Deadpool 1, people have been asking one thing about the sequel — Who will be playing Cable? We may finally have an answer, but take this with a huge grain of salt for now.
Friday Night Lights & Bloodline star Kyle Chandler is being eyed to take the role of Cable aka Nathaniel Summers opposite Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. In the comics, Cable is the adult son of X-Man Cyclops and Jean Grey clone, Madelyne Pryor. While Nathaniel Summers was created by Chris Claremont, Cable’s adult identity was created by Rob Liefield and Louise Simonson.
Cable of course is a fan favorite character and out of time travel, also has a variety of powers including telepathy, telekinesis and technopathy. Cable is also has some pretty amazing skills with a gun.
Kyle Chandler has held several prominent tv / film roles and is one of the best actors working today. Outside of Friday Night Lights & Bloodline, Chandler has held supporting roles in Super 8, Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and possible 2017 Oscar Contender Manchester by the Sea.
The scoop comes from Senior Film Reporter Jeff Sneider of Mashable on “Meet The Movie Press.” While Sneider says the Chandler’s name has been floating around for months, he says take it with a grain on salt for now as “I don’t know if he’s interested in that kind of thing, I’m just saying that’s the name that’s been out there.”
Sneider also goes on to say that Halt and Catch Fire star Mackenzie Davis is being eyed to play mercenary Domino, who has partnered with Cable in the comics and also his lover. Don’t let this short description fool you, Domino is a badass in the comics and could potentially be a scene stealing role in the sequel. Catch both scoops around 51 minutes in the video below.
