Black Panther Casts Forest Whitaker as Zuri

Black Panther casts Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker as Zuri!

For those of you who don’t know who Zuri is, he’s an elder stateman of Wakanda and ally of T’Challa. The character first appeared in the Black Panther comics back in 1998 before getting killed by Morlun in 2009.

Whitaker will star alongside an all-star lineup that includes, Winston Duke as longtime Black Panther foe Man-Ape, Chadwick Boseman as the King of Wakanda himself T’Challa, Michael B. Jordan as the villainous Erik Killmonger, Andy Serkis as Klaw, and Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye, members of the Dora Milaje.

Also joining the cast is Florence Kasumba who will be reprising her role from Captain America: Civil War as T’Challa’s bodyguard and newcomer Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kab, a confidant to T’Challa.

Whitaker has a pretty stacked schedule ahead of him. Not only is he staring in this year’s highly anticipated movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but he’ll also be in The Forgiven where he’ll play Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Black Panther is expected to hit theaters on February 16, 2018.
