FX Releases New Legion Teaser Trailer, Announces Premiere Date

FX released a new teaser trailer for upcoming series Legion today, the first Marvel television show to be directly tied to the X-Men universe.

The network also confirmed today that the show will premiere in February 2017.

In the trailer we find protagonist David Heller, played by former Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens. questioning his own sanity and asking, “Is this real?”

Based on the trailer it looks like we can expect a darker show more in line with Marvel’s Netflix offerings than its other shows.

The official show synopsis from Marvel and FX:

  • “Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real. Legion debuts in early 2017 and is produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.”

Noah Hawley (FX’s Fargo) will serve as an Executive Producer along with several X-Men film producers including Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer,  Simon Kinberg and more.

The series will also feature Jean Smart and Aubrey Plaza.
