Ciaran Hinds Cast As Steppenwolf In Justice League

The villain of the DC Comics film, Justice League, has been cast and it’s Ciaran Hinds as Darkseid’s right hand man Steppenwolf.  The Wrap informs us that the Game of Thrones star has played the part in a motion capture suit as the film has wrapped shooting and is in post production.

We’ve had a small peek at Steppenwolf in the deleted scene from Batman v Superman where Lex Luthor is communicating with an unnamed character.  In Justice League, Steppenwolf will be after the mother boxes that have been spotted on Earth. Our closest look at one was during the quick Cyborg scene showing his creation. It is rumored that he’ll receive a bit of a visual upgrade over the footage in the deleted scene.

Steppenwolf first appeared in New Gods Vol. 1 #7 (February 1972) and was created by Jack Kirby. He featured prominently more recently in Justice League, Darkseid War Part 1 and 2 that published toward the end of the New 52 era of DC comics.

Justice League will be the fifth film in the DC Comics Extended Universe, and is set to release November 17, 2017. What do you think about this casting choice?  Does it matter if it’s simply a motion capture performance?
