2016 is almost over and to celebrate we here at The Marvel Report are looking back at our favorite Marvel moments from the year. For the first day of the 12 Days of Marvel we are taking a look back at our favorite TV moments from Marvel shows.

I’m not a frequent watcher of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, but when I heard Spider-Gwen was going to appear on the show I had to tune in. Even though the show changed Gwen’s origins, it was still fun to watch Spider-Gwen’s first appearance on television. Let’s hope it won’t be the last, which I’m sure it won’t be.

Agent Carter Season 2

Breeze Riley, Contributing Writer

While we’re all still mourning the fact Agent Carter has yet to be confirmed for a season 3, it’s nice to look back at all the great jokes the came out of season 2. While Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) had his fair share of dramatic moments, how can any of us forget his head to head with the biggest foe to date? That is, Bernard Stark the Flamingo. Bernard even got his own parody account. After all, “He’s the devil in pink.” In addition to being a great new addition to the cast, the Bernard scenes really set the comical direction Agent Carter went in season 2.

Agents of SHIELD Season 4

Clement Bryant, Social Media Director

Fav TV moment- the introduction of Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD season 4, episode 1. For anyone who had doubts that ABC and Marvel could adapt the Robbie Reyes story, they quelled all fears within 20 minutes of the show. They respectfully touched upon the comics with things like Canelo’s, Eli going bad, etc. As a comic fan, I’m very pleased with how the story went from panel to screen.

Tatiana Hullender, Staff Writer

Robbie Reyes appearing on Agents of SHIELD for the first time definitely takes the cake for me. The VFX, lighting, and music all combined to make him something out of a big screen horror film. Which of course only made the later reveal of his human side that much sweeter. Before this season of SHIELD, I wasn’t particularly well-versed in Ghost Rider lore, and now I can’t get enough of it. I’m a changed woman!

Shawn Richter, Events Director

It’s all about Ghost Rider for me. The fact that they teased him but never showed him leading up to season 4. The fact that we saw him just seconds into that first episode, but it was just a tease. The fact that we had a full reveal in that first episode, and the fact that he was in every single episode during the first half of the season. Gabriel Luna killed it in every way possible, and the VFX were out of this world. Coulson said it himself, this is not the last time we’ll see Robbie Reyes. I just can’t wait to see how/where/when he comes back. Whatever it is, it won’t be soon enough.

Daredevil Season 2

“One batch, two batch, penny and dime. It was her favorite book.” Jon Bernthal’s performance as the Punisher in Daredevil season 2 was so moving, so emotional, so riveting. His scene with Matt Murdock in the graveyard of season 2, episode 4 is my favorite Marvel moment of the year. Up to this point, we’ve seen the Punisher light guys up with round after round of bullets. In this moment, covered in blood, shaking, crying, he reflects on the first time he saw his daughter after his deployment overseas. The moment brings me to tears every time I watch it. His regret over not reading the “One batch” book to his daughter before she died scared him for life, and I will never forget it.

The was a lot of great Marvel TV moments this year, but my favorite has to be Jon Bernthal’s introduction as Frank Castle/the Punisher in the second season of Daredevil. Bernthal completely embodies the role and makes the crazed killer someone you can understand and even root for. I went from knowing nothing about this character to wanting to read every comicbook about him and even cosplaying as the Punisher. I have rarely been drawn to a character so quickly. The scene where Frank fights his way through the prison has to be one of my all time favorites in a show that’s already known for its incredible action sequences. And the last episode where Frank saves the day on the roof made me cheer with joy. “See you around, Red.”

Luke Cage Season 1

Jay El, Staff Writer

Luke Cage, while the season started off strong, I felt the switch up in the middle really didn’t do the first half justice. My favorite moment though will have to be the scene above.

“Snarky” Shawn Carpenter, Pop Culture Editor & Animation Reviewer

My moment is a little on the Easter egg side. I love Easter eggs. But when Luke Cage donned his “classic” outfit when he escaped from prison was beyond funny. It looked way too retro for the time and I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. It’s silly moments like these that make these Netflix shows some of the best!

Carolyn Poddig, Senior Writer & Events Assistant Manager

The Marvel Universe is full of surprises and the biggest surprise for me was probably the strength and power of Luke Cage, his show, and the message ‘Always Forward’. As a big Jessica Jones fan I was excited to see where Luke came from and where he was going. To learn his history and how his past had shaped him was heartbreaking, but to have him refuse to be defined by those actions and to take a higher ground was not only powerful but incredibly life affirming for individuals looking for healing. I found myself wanting him to have good things, intrigued by the world he inhabited, and inspired by the message of ‘Always Forward’ proving that a person doesn’t need to be defined by their past mistakes and the deeds done against them. Rather that every day is a new day and we must embrace it as such and learn to keep walking. I can’t thank Cheo Hodari Coker, his team, and the cast enough for sharing this world and this incredibly powerful message.
