If Agents of SHIELD is renewed for Season 5, it will be sharing a network with Marvel’s Inhumans series, debuting later this year.
As previously reported, the first two hours will release in select IMAX theaters nationwide. The show will take a slot on the network following the theater release. Channing Dungey, ABC Entertainment Group president, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter.
“SHIELD is in its fourth season and every year, that show has gotten creatively stronger and better,” said Dungey.
SHIELD was Marvel’s Television’s first scripted original series and ABC’s first Marvel drama. The show has seen its fair share of successes; earning many award nominations and even winning a few awards along the way.
“(SHIELD) it was the first out of the gate for us with Marvel and we all have been learning a lot over the four years of that show,” said Dungey.
With the Marvel’s Inhumans series upcoming, discussions are up in the air:
“Hopefully there’s a world for me where these shows exist side-by-side on our air,” said Dungey, optimistic about what the future may have in store for the two shows, two different pieces of music that exist together in the same landscape.”
The two groups co-exist in the comic realm so the opportunity is there for the networks taking, just will they chose to take the opportunity?
Netflix is currently doing something to tie in all of its current and upcoming Marvel programs. Correlations have been seen in Daredevil, Jessica Jone, Luke Cage and the upcoming Iron Fist series, all of which are tied to parts of New York City – specifically Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan and Harlem. So, the opportunity is there for ABC to do something special with the two programs. What say you? Let us know in the comments below or on on social.
