The nominations and the awards are in and Marvel (and it’s marvelous actors) have taken home some people’s choice awards and were nominated for several others. Marvel was nominated for Favorite action movie (Captain America: Civil War, Deadpool, X-Men Apocalypse) as well as Favorite Movie (Captain America: Civil War) . The People’s Choice Awards also nominated most of the male avengers. The awards catergory for favorite actor included a who’s-who of Marvel’s best including Chris Evans, Liam Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr and of course fan favorite
Ryan Reynolds.
For the ladies, Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Lawrence were also nominated. Ryan Reynolds took home a people’s choice award for Favorite actor, while Jennifer Lawrence took home the award for Favorite Female Star. Robert Downey Jr. took home the Favorite Male Action Star Award, but Deadpool took home the gold over the Disney film Captain America: Civil war. With Reynolds taking home not one but two awards, the film’s official twitter dressing advice seems startlingly accurate.

Marvel’s Samuel L Jackson was in the running for a “People’s Choice Icon Award” along with Netflix Favorite Luke Cage for best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Television Show. Deadpool is shaping up to be a major award’s contender this season, leaving some critics concerned and others curious. While Oscar nominations haven’t been announced, Ryan Reynolds has already promised a “major reaction”, posting this “For your consideration” video. Warning. Contains not safe for work material.

So far Deadpool seems to be a major contender, with Captain America: Civil War an obvious choice to at least be mentioned in conjunction with the oscars. While this won’t heal the divide between the studios, it’s always nice to see both parties take home well deserved gold.
