Game Of Thrones Star Joins Marvel’s Inhumans As Maximus

The inhumans have found their first family member.

Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon, known for his brutal and unflinching portrayal of Ramsey Snow joins the series as Black Bolt’s brother Maximus according to the hollywood reporter.  With Inhumans heading straight to series, the Game of Thrones star is poised to play black bolt’s brother – a part that’s currently uncast.  Maximus is a charming inhuman with shades of fan favorite Loki, tragic and fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan.  Like fan favorite Loki, the character has a villainous streak however and seeks to supplant his brother Black Bolt, taking Attilan’s crown for himself.

The series has a showrunner in Scott Buck and a director in Black Sails alum Roel Reine, as well as a potential filming date and location.  With it’s first two episodes scheduled to be released in IMAX and the rest of the eight episode series broadcast on ABC, inhumans is set to explore the untold adventures of Black Bolt, Inhuman King, his wife Medusa and the rest of their royal court, something that Iwan Rheon knows plenty about from his Game of Thrones days, “Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board” said producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Leob.

Showrunner Scott Buck had more praise to add, “Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.” Rheon’s credits also include Vicious and Misfits proving that he’s no stranger to unusual and fun genre programming.

The Inhumans themselves debuted in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four in 1965 as a race of individuals with unique abilities and characteristics.    Since then they’ve been featured in multiple venues from Agents of SHIELD to starring roles in Marvel’s comic continuity.
