Agents Of SHIELD Gets January 2018 Date, Clark Gregg To Direct?

While fans are preparing for things to get a little Inhuman for ABC, fans of Agents of SHIELD are certainly counting the days until the series return. Thanks to CBR, we know that January 2018 means the return of the much loved Marvel flagship.  VFX supervisor Mark Kolpack has promised that the later start will give the series plenty of prep time meaning “no breaks” for the beloved television show. While Season 4 ended on an emotional note the series has quite a bit to do when it comes to its new direction.  Fans fell in love with Ghost Rider last season and fan favorite Daisy Johnson came into her own – who knows what the future will bring?

Whatever the case, we’ll have plenty of time to look forward to it on Fridays as ABC President Channing Dungey has promised to make Fridays a ‘destination’ for sci-fi and fantasy fans.  While some might call Fridays the “death” slot, people would do well to remember that the X-Files thrived in that space, as well as the popular Fox series Grimm. Could ABC’s Fandom Fridays bring back the popular family television destination? We’ll have The Inhumans and Agents of SHIELD  – we’d say that’s a yes.

One way or another fans have a lot to look forward to.  According to a recent Clark Gregg AMA on reddit, the MCU star talked about stepping behind the camera to direct an episode.  This isn’t unusual, Gregg wrote and directed Choke based on the popular Chuck Palahniuk novel.  He also wrote the screenplay for the Robert Zemeckis thriller What Lies Beneath and Trust Me. Given Gregg’s history with the MCU and showrunner Jed Whedon stepping behind the camera, we’re not surprised by this turn of events – and in fact more than a little excited.

Are you intrigued by the 2018 start date? Can’t wait for the ‘Director’ to step behind the camera? Sound off in the comments below.  Agents of SHIELD returns to television Fridays at 9pm after Marvel’s The Inhumans.
