The Black Cat and Silver Sable spin-off film, titled Silver and Black, has found its director. Gina Prince-Bythewood has been announced to helm the spin-off film. The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter.
Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing the film. They are aiming for an October 2018 release with a fall start date. Chris Yost who has worked on Thor will be working on the script for this Black Cat and Silver Sable spin-off.
Silver Sable is a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals and Black Cat aka Felicia Hardy is a cat burglar who is at times romantically linked to Spider-Man/Peter Parker.
Sony is planning other Spider-Man related spin-offs, such as Venom starring Tom Hardy and directed by Ruben Fleischer. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be co-produced by both Sony and Marvel.
Prince-Bythewood is known for her work on films such as Love and Basketball, Secret Life Of Bees, and Beyond The Lights. Prince-Bythewood also directed the pilot episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, coming to Freeform. This makes her no stranger to Marvel characters.
