Evangeline Lilly Talks Ant Man and The Wasp Costume

We’re mired in a marvelous summer, caught in limbo between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming but there are still more films coming before we hit the end of phase 3 with Avengers: Infinity War and then some.  We’ve got Black Panther forthcoming and everyone is looking forward to Captain Marvel.  It seems rather appropriate that Ant Man and The Wasp is creeping in through the cracks.  Appropriately, star Evangeline Lilly teased that she just went in for a costume fitting on twitter  – getting people hyped for the other insect-based franchise in the marvelous marvel universe.

According to EWAnt Man and the Wasp is going to up the ante. EW caught up with Ant-Man actor David Dastmalchian at the Twin Peaks premiere. His response?  “It’s going to be really cool.”

“I can say Ant-Man and The Wasp is going to do things in the Marvel universe that they haven’t gotten an opportunity to do yet and I just got some tidbits the other day and they’re mind-blowing.”

Dastmalchian plays a member of Scott Lang’s gang of burglars.  Actor Paul Rudd is scheduled to reprise his role in the film as the burglar with a heart of gold who becomes the chosen successor to Hank Pym’s Ant-Man.  Evangeline Lilly will be shrinking down and joining him as the Wasp. According to director Peyton Reed there’ll be new suits and new gadgets for our pint-sized heroes, “There was this one idea that Hank Pym had forwarded the shrinking and growing technology so it’s not just the suits that are the vehicles.”

Reed went on to add that Hope’s suit wouldn’t be the only one getting an upgrade:

“For Ant-Man specifically, in that first movie, the suit, intentionally so, is kind of a relic.  It represents his past, so this is really the new iteration that is the modern version of the tech.”

Reed went on to point out that Hope Van Dyne’s mother would have a ‘wee’ role in the film but he was mum on further details. Since Hope Van Dyne will be joining Scott as a hero at last, as you intrigued? Excited? Ready to shrink down and let us know? Sound off in the comments below.

Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters July 6th, 2018.
