After a brief delay, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 trailer is up and running and it reveals some new details about the game’s plot and characters. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games are reaching across time to bring out more playable characters from across Marvel’s multiverse.
The trailer sees Rocket and Baby Groot running across Chronopolis, which will act as the game’s hub world. This is where central villain Kang the Conqueror has scattered various locales from all over the Marvel Universe, including recent addition Ego the Living Planet. The premise of the game will be to help ward off this anachronistic assault on the space-time continuum, as seen by the Avengers (including Gladiator Hulk from the “Planet Hulk” storyline and the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok”) fighting mummies in the Middle Ages. The heroes will also get a chance to use some of this time wackiness to their advantage, evidenced by Baby Groot quickly becoming adult Groot.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will feature many of Marvel’s classic heroes, including dozens of characters that have debuted or seen increased prominence in the comics since the original game’s release. This includes Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man 2099, and Ms. Marvel. Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy, who were last seen in the original game’s closing credits, have been updated to reflect their Marvel Cinematic Universe looks.
Look for more information on LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 to hit in the coming months, with new details likely set to emerge at June’s E3 and July’s San Diego Comic-Con. The game officially releases on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 14, with a Nintendo Switch version coming later in the holiday season.
