More details are beginning to emerge about Marvel’s Phase 3 films. Most recently, Ant-Man and the Wasp has added a few new cast members for the sequel film. Besides the addition of Hannah John-Kamen in an undisclosed role, The Tracking Board announced today that Randall Park will also be joining the film.
Park is set to play SHIELD Agent Jimmy Woo in the upcoming film. In the comics, Woo is a talented spy who begins his career working for the FBI. He is later recruited for SHIELD under the direction of Nick Fury. Just how he will connect to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is yet to be seen, but this might bode well for the return of SHIELD in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Park is the star of ABC’S Fresh off the Boat. He has also appeared on shows such as Veep and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp as well as the films The Interview and Trainwreck. With his comedic background Park the perfect choice to join the more offbeat superhero film.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will see the return of not only Rudd, but Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michael Pena as the scene stealing Luis. There is no word on which villain the characters will be facing. However, the Ant-Man sequel is the first to follow Avengers: Infinity War so we can expect to see some fallout from the events that take place in that film.
Director Peyton Reed returns to take on Ant-Man and the Wasp. Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari wrote the script for the film. The first film grossed $519.3 million and was a surprise hit with both critics and fans.
Ant-Man and the Wasp flies into theaters July 6th, 2018.
