Composer Sean Callery Assembled A 68-Piece Orchestra For Marvel’s Inhumans

We are less than a week away now from Marvel’s Inhumans debuting on IMAX screens and it appears that the size of the screen isn’t the only way that the Marvel series went bigger than usual. It appears though that a large screen isn’t the only thing to While the television series will  Sean Callery, who also composed Jessica Jones Emmy-winning theme, is currently at work for the score for the series ahead of it’s debut and spoke briefly with Variety about his work on the series.

One of the interesting bits that the composer revealed to the outlet is that ABC approved a 68-piece orchestra for the 70 minutes of television. This is actually the largest ensemble of musicians the composer has dealt with when it came to television. He stated that the reasoning behind that was due to the series taking place “across two planetary bodies, and there are more than half a dozen characters with superhuman abilities.” So, what should we expect when it comes to the series score? Callery added the following.

“It’s a big production with a lot of characters, and a sense of adventure. This is the most thematic I’ve been with any show I’ve worked on. At its core, it’s about a royal family, so there are some grand themes for the kingdom and the family.”

From Luke Cage to Iron Fist and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Jessica Jones, one of the things that has given each Marvel series it’s own “flavor” has been their unique scores. So, definitely curious to see what Callery has in store when it comes to Inhumans and whether or not I’m going to be adding some more music to my collection. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
