For those who know me I have a problem when it comes to Funko POPs as well as anything Guardians of the Galaxy related. At some point, I will show off the collection. But this news just really got me going today in both positive and negative ways.
A new POP figure has been released based on the statue of the Collector (Benecio del Toro) right outside the entrance to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! in Disneyland. I really want it because of the reasons listed above. And before I gripe a little here’s what it looks like. It’s pretty fantastic.
This item is only available in the Collector’s Warehouse at Disney’s California Adventure and Pin Traders and Superhero Headquarters at Disney Springs in Orlando. It is number 236 in the main Marvel POP line and is right before the Pop-in-a-Box exclusive Deadpool/Venom and after New York Comic Con Exclusive Old Man Logan.
The real kicker is that this item was “limited” to 10 per person. Yep, that means someone could buy 10 of this limited item and then turn around and sell. While their going price on eBay isn’t horribly awful, it’s a shame that these had such a large limit cap given how rare the figure might be. With no word of a second run, as of yet, your best bet might be to give in to buying this Pop online.
But, as always, I will be sure to keep tabs on this so I will let you all know about any future runs for this item.
Thanks to our reporter and resident member of the Mouse, Carolyn Poddig, and Marvel Toy News for details on this release. As of the time of writing this, the Gold Collector is sold out and is currently on eBay for around $30-$40.
