The upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy is possibly looking to add a very big name to its growing cast. Variety broke the news that Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea) is in talks to join the Sony-Marvel film as the female lead. Should Williams sign on, the Academy Award-nominated actress would reportedly play a district attorney as well as the love interest for Eddie Brock.
According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, Slyvia Hoeks (Blade Runner), Kylie Bunbury (Pitch), Kate Mara (The Fantastic Four) were being eyed for the same role. It also appears that Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) is now part of the project after the initial news that he was in talks to join Venom.
Production is reportedly set to start a little bit later this fall in New York City, as the film was originally going to film this month. We will most likely find out soon whether or not Williams will be joining the film at all. Carnage is said to be the antagonist in Venom which will be the first Sony-Marvel film to kick-off their separate universe, with Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Silver and Black set to start filming sometime this year too.
Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
