Jenny Slate In Talks To Join Venom

Jenny Slate might be joining the Marvel Universe over at Sony. Variety reports that Slate is in negotiations with Sony Pictures to join the upcoming Venom film starring Tom Hardy. According to the trade’s Justin Kroll, Slate would play a scientist “who works at the company owned by said villain (who may or may not be Carnage)”.

This report follows the recent announcement that Academy Award-nominated actress Michelle Williams was also in talks to join the film. According to Variety’s report from today, Williams is supposedly signed on now.

Williams will, per Variety, play a district attorney as well as the love interest for Eddie Brock. Riz Ahmed is also set to appear in Venom as a “popular Marvel Comics character” that isn’t Carnage, the main baddie of the story.

Slate is known for work such as Obvious Child, Zootopia, The LEGO Batman Movie and more. In addition to that, Slate has a body of work on television as well with shows like Parks & Recreation and Girls.

Production is set to start sometime this fall in New York City. As previously revealed, Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man related films – which are not spin-offs – will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
