Jane Foster Thor

Kevin Feige Isn’t Ruling Out The Possibility Of A Female Thor In MCU’s Future

We’re just a handful of days away from The God of Thunder returning to theaters in Thor: Ragnarok with Chris Hemsworth also set to return in Avengers: Infinity War as well as the upcoming fourth untitled Avengers film. But what about after those two films? What does the future hold for the character if Chris Hemsworth decides to put the hammer down and walk away?

In the recent Jason Aaron run of the Thor comics, the Odinson was replaced by Jane Foster who took up the mantle. If Hemsworth decided to not re-up his contract with Marvel Studios, could we see the films head down the same route? Well, while speaking with Movies.com, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was asked about the possibility and had the following to say regarding the matter.

“We always look back to the comics to get those ideas … sometimes very specific storylines like “Civil War,” sometimes just nuggets or characters like “Planet Hulk. So anything that’s happened in the comics, even a female Thor, become great potentials and the ideas from which future movies can be born.”

While this doesn’t mean that they’ve had discussion regarding this, there’s no reason to at this point, Feige isn’t ruling it out. But would Natalie Portman return to weild the hammer if asked? Someone needs to ask that one the next time they’ve got the chance. Would you like to see Jane become Thor in the MCU’s future? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
