Are you ready for more Spider-Man related films from Sony Pictures besides Venom and Silver & Black? The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Sony is developing a Morbius the Living Vampire film from Power Rangers scribes, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama who just submitted a draft of the project to the studio.
No details were revealed about the potential movie. All that is known is that – should the film move forward – it would be part of the new cinematic universe that Sony is putting together. It would not exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man exists.
This isn’t the first time that there have been plans to bring Morbius into live-action. Back in 2000, Marvel Entertainment in association with Artisan Entertainment was developing 15 TV shows or films based on Marvel characters, including Morbius. In addition to that, Morbius was in the first Blade film, at least in the alternative ending of the Marvel film.
Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams Jenny Slate, and Reid Scott, is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner wrote the screenplay for Venom, with Amy Pascal, Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad producing.
Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Silver & Black is set to release on February 8, 2019.
Who would you want to direct the film? Who should play Dr. Michael Morbius? Sound off in the comments below.
