Legion Season 2 to Premiere in April; Navid Negahban Added as Amahl Farouk

FX announced Legion will return for Season 2 in April, though an exact date was not given. The announcement came as a part of a panel for the winter TCA (Television Critics Association) tour, which Marvel recapped in a press release.

Also announced during the panel was the casting of Navid Negahban as Amahl Farouk, the true form of the Shadow King. Negahban, best known for his role in TV series Homeland, replaces actor Said Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman) who exited production in November.

During the panel, critics were shown a clip from the upcoming season of Legion where David Haller (Dan Stevens) meets Amahl Farouk in a field. In the clip, Farouk praises David for his power, saying they are both like gods. Based on the clip it seems like the Shadow King isn’t giving up on using David, despite David finally expelling him from his mind last season.

The show will feature a time jump with the show taking place after David’s return from his abduction that occurred at the end of Season 1. Stevens said Season 2 will look at David’s trust issues and follow his journey to finding himself.

“What team does he end up playing for is always in play and that’s really heightened this year, I think,” said Stevens.

Another character that will have to explore their own identity in Season 2 is Lenny, said actress Aubrey Plaza who portrays the character.

“She was being used in the first season. [Now] she almost becomes like David in Season 1, in the sense that she doesn’t know what’s real or who she is or what’s happening.”

With the first season well noted for its offbeat style and mysteries, viewers can expect Season 2 to continue that trend.

“The idea of making something unexpected is important, and this word ‘uncanny,’ which I know I’ve talked about,” said showrunner Noah Hawley.
