Jessica Jones Renewed for Season 3

In news that will surprise no one yet still calls for celebratory drinks, Marvel announced today that Jessica Jones has been picked up for a third season!

The Netflix series first took the world by storm in 2015, gifting audiences with a flawed but fabulous female heroine who literally faced down her demons while still being allowed to wallow in them like the boys do. After binging our way its second season this year – can you believe we waited over 2 years? – during International Women’s Day, fans have been clamoring for more Jessica. And while the International Day for Street Children is not exactly the most apropos day on which to rejoice in this wonderful news, we are always ready to hear more from our favorite hard-drinking private investigator.

Jessica Jones‘ protagonist was also pretty excited. Krysten Ritter took to Instagram to let everyone know her joy at the prospect of working with her favorite people, which we hope includes more of the female directors that showrunner Melissa Rosenberg lovingly collected for season 2. And hopefully more female characters for viewers to know and love, perhaps this time even adding a few women of color to the mix. A few more questions include: Will any of the other Defenders appear in season 3? Will Hellcat make her debut? And, finally, what wacky cases will Jessica have to take on this time?

Marvel’s Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the eponymous heroine, with Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. The series is executive produced by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Jessica Jones is also produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
