The Black Widow movie finally has a director, and it’s Cate Shortland! The Australian director, best known for Lore, will officially be helming the Natasha Romanoff centered picture.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news, Scarlett Johansson is said to have been a big fan of Shortland. Per the trade, the studio met with over 70 directors for the directing gig.
Reports are stating that the Black Widow movie is still to take place sometime before the first Avengers movie, from director Joss Whedon. There is no official release date yet for the film nor is there any information on when the film will start production, as well as who will be starring alongside Johansson.
“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality.
