It appears that Iron Fist is getting a different episode order for its second season compared to its fellow Marvel-Netflix shows. According to Comic Book Resources, who have confirmed with Netflix, the second season of the Danny Rand series will only have 10 episodes rather than the traditional 13.
It wasn’t specified why Iron Fist is getting 3 episodes less from Season 1. Whether or not it has to do with the critical response to the first season remains to be seen. The only other Marvel-Netflix show to have had less than 13 episodes was the team-up series The Defenders which had a total of 8 episodes.
“Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.”
Iron Fist Season 2, starring Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Sacha Dhawan as Davos, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Alice Eve as Typhoid Mary, will hit Netflix on September 7. The first season is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
