Back in September, a big surprise came from Marvel Studios and Disney that the upcoming Disney streaming service is prepping several Marvel dramas featuring several favorite MCU characters. Two of the shows that were revealed were a series for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki as well as a drama centered around Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
While Marvel TV is still going strong with shows like Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, and others, these MCU projects will not be under that umbrella. Instead, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will be overseeing these shows for the streaming service.
However, we can now add a third show to the list of projects that are in the works. Variety broke the news today that Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier are getting their own limited series for the new Disney platform. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is officially writing the series that, similarly to Loki and Scarlet Witch, is expected to consist between 6-8 episodes.
It remains to be seen whether their show will take place before or after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, as well as the fourth Avengers installment, hitting theaters next year. According to Variety, these shows for the streaming service is expected to be bigger than the Marvel shows on broadcast and other streaming platforms.
