Netflix Cancels Iron Fist After Two Seasons

While the Marvel-Netflix collaboration has been strong since their start in 2015, they have officially hit their first bump. Deadline broke the news today that Iron Fist has been canceled after two seasons by Netflix. In a joined statement, Disney, Marvel, and Netflix said the following about the end of the Danny Rand series.

“DISNEY: Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix, Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners.

MARVEL and NETFLIX: We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

However, there is some hope for a series revival. Deadline confirmed that there are already talks about shopping Iron Fist around to Dinsey’s own streaming service. Given that the untitled Disney platform is already working on other Marvel related shows, it isn’t the craziest idea that they bring Iron Fist over to that platform. Deadline reveals that despite the fact that Marvel wanted the show to continue being on Netflix, Disney is considering resurrecting the series on the new platform.

While we know that Jessica Jones is already filming its third season, Deadline mentions briefly that a season three renewal for Luke Cage is “expected any day now.” It is also expected that Daredevil, which is releasing its third season next week, will be back for season four.
