Jared Harris has joined Jared Leto in Sony’s Morbius adaptation. The film focuses on Michael Morbius, a brilliant biochemist. After Morbius discovers that he’s dying of a rare blood disorder, he attempts to cure himself using electroshock therapy and vampire blood. His attempts naturally go awry and he’s transformed into a ‘living vampire’. Cursed to wander the earth he vows to drink the blood of the corrupted.
According to Deadline, Jared Harris will be joining the film in an unknown role. Son of Irish actor Richard Harris, Harris has an extensive acting resume that includes The Crown, Mad Men, and Sherlock Holmes: A game of Shadows. this will be Harris’s first foray into the superhero genre.
Harris joins Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, and Jared Leto himself in the film. Sony is keeping everyone besides Leto’s role under wraps. The film will be directed by Daniel Espinoza, from a script written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film hits theaters July 31, 2020.
