Tyrese Gibson Joins Sony’s Morbius

The cast for Sony’s Morbius is really starting to come together. Jared Leto is already on board to pay the title character and Sherlock Holmes villain Jared Harris has also joined the cast in an unknown role.

According to Variety, Tyrese Gibson will also be joining the film. Gibson, best known for the Fast and Furious Franchise, joins Morbius in an undisclosed role. Based on a script from Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius focuses on Michael Morbius, a biochemist attempting to cure himself of a mysterious blood condition. Thanks to a combination of vampire blood and electroshock therapy Morbius survives. He is transformed by his experience however and becomes, a “living vampire”.

Morbius was introduced in 1971 in The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Morbius functioned as an antagonist for Spider-Man. His own tenure as an anti-hero lasted for a 32 issue run in 1995 and saw him meet characters like Ghost Rider. The film will be overseen by Safe House director Daniel Espinoza.
