Cloak & Dagger Season 2: What We Know So Far

The second season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger premieres on Freeform on April 4th. Last summer, the show tied Marvel’s television universe together, offering Easter eggs that touched on the whole MCU. The first season closed with an attack that turned Mardi Gras into a horror show filled with terrors. Between the corrupt cops of New Orleans and the actions of Roxxon, Tandy and Tyrone had to battle police and zombies. The show ended happily with the two of them fulfilling their destiny of saving the city.

However, their actions had consequences. Tyrone was forced to go on the run to save himself. Tandy found some degree of healing but now struggles to help Tyrone. As the two try to control their gifts, they also have to contend with the effects of saving the city. Namely, when light energy and dark energy combined, it brought back Detective Brigid O’Reilly from the dead.

A lot has changed, and we have some new images and teasers to keep us going as we start preparing for Tandy and Tyrone to return. Let’s take a look at what we know so far.

Teasers Preview Threats Close to Home

The first season teased world-shaking threats. New Orleans was going to be destroyed, and either Tandy or Tyrone were going to die. The Cloak & Dagger season 2 trailer teases missing girls and a possible sex trafficking ring. The focus is on Cloak & Dagger using their powers to actually fight crime.

This will be stopped by Brigid O’Reilly, whose rebirth and new abilities throw a wrench in Tandy and Tyrone’s plans. The character was an ally the previous season, and after the trauma she endured (being blasted with gas and shot before being knocked into the water), she’s poised to be a powerful villain. The showrunners have teased that Mayhem will be taking a role similar to Killmonger’s in Black Panther. Though it’ll be hard to match the pathos that Michael B Jordan brought to the role as well as match his character’s motivations, there’s a lot that could be done with Emma Lahana’s Mayhem.

There Are Three New Characters

According to ComicBook.com, the series will introduce three new characters. The new characters are Andre Deschaine (Brooklyn McLinn), Lia Dewan (Dilshad Vadsaria) and Mikayla Bell (Cecilia Leal).

The new characters offer some clues about the show’s storyline. McLinn will play Deschaine, a “charismatic leader and a man who wants to change lives.” Vadsaria’s Lia Dewan is “the daughter of immigrants who tried to follow her parents wishes to go into medicine, but seemingly gave it all up for a man.”

Cecilia Leal’s Mikayla Bell is the most interesting character of the three. Bell is described as a “friendly but troubled young woman from Tandy and Melissa’s Bowen’s support group. Mikayla’s shy demeanor hides an insecure woman desperate for acceptance and defensive against advice.”

It sounds like Deschaine and Dewan might be working together, or perhaps have some sort of connection if Dewan “gave it all up for a man.” Bell might also have a connection, but nothing is set in stone. Let the speculation about these new characters begin!

There Will Be Mayhem

Multiple posters have teased Mayhem, one of the biggest threats in Cloak & Dagger’s Rogues Gallery. Formerly Detective Brigid O’Reilly, she’s exposed to gas (just like in the show) that gives her green skin, hair, and extra long finger nails. She emits a toxic green gas that paralyzes her victims and forces them to tell the truth. She can also levitate and fly.

O’Reilly features heavily in all of the trailers. Check out the Cloak & Dagger posters displaying Mayhem below:

The Mayhem continues with another new poster. What’s black and white and green all over? Cloak & Dagger Season 2.
