According to a recent report from Deadline, actors Emily VanCamp and Daniel Bruhl will be reprising their film roles for the upcoming The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Disney + miniseries.
Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter (also known as Agent 13) last appeared on screen in Captain America: Civil War. An agent of SHIELD, she is also the niece of Peggy Carter and known ally to Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.
The return of Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo proves more interesting as the villanious character was last seen imprisoned by SHIELD following the events of Civil War.
It was also revealed that Kari Skogland (The Handmaid’s Tale, NOS4A2) will direct the six-part miniseries.
A release date has not been set, but given the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s likely the show will focus on Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Sebastian Stan teased what we might expect from Bucky and the two heroes’ relationship in the new series:
“I think it’s time for Bucky to go out there and have an identity outside of the circumstances that we’ve met him through,” said Stan. “So, I don’t know, he might do all kinds of things. He might even go on a date. I don’t know. Scary world out there, you know? Apps, things like that. I don’t know what he’s gonna do. I can’t see him on an iPhone…I think it’s gonna be a lot of dealing with Anthony’s character and Anthony himself which is always another character.”
Although the characters have had serious moments, they’ve also developed a great comedic chemistry on screen so hopefully the show will take advantage of that.
Disney+ launches on November 12, 2019. Additional Marvel shows scheduled for the service include “WandaVision” following Wanda and Vision, a Loki series and a Hawkeye series that will feature Kate Bishop.
